Aardbei House
This project utilised natural, recycled elements to create a striking split of rawness and warmth. The client wanted their new kitchen to be functional and beautiful while respecting the style and materials of the home.
The client’s brief was to completely overhaul the layout of the kitchen and butler’s pantry, incorporate recycled flooring and bring a hint of industrial flair to the extensive kitchen area.
The pantry walls were altered to accommodate a double fridge, bench area and balance of open shelves and cupboards providing considerable storage for the family.
A large bench was a prerequisite for the clients. The Caesarstone ‘rugged concrete’ and ‘airy concrete’ combination adds sturdiness to the kitchen design while carefully encasing the two structural posts. A steel structure was constructed underneath the suspended seating area to give lightness to the heavy, square edge concrete-look benchtop.
A dual-fuel induction/gas cooktop was placed on the island bench to suit the layout of the room and the family-style cooking enjoyed by the client.
The dark and muted black coloured shaker-style cabinet doors with black handles skillfully merge the various design styles into a sophisticated and timeless style that enhances the features of the kitchen as a whole.
